How A Boy Smashed A 3,000-Year Old Jar In Haifa, Israel

A boy said to be around 4 to 5 years old broke a 3,000-year- old Jar in a museum situated in Haifa, Israel.

The child, among many others, came to the museum to behold old relics and artifacts and he mistakenly smashed the jar which was positioned at the entrance of the museum without protective glasses.

When the knowledge of the museum management was drawn to the incident, they at first had the conclusion that it must be replaced.

After a thorough investigation, it was understood that the act was done unconsciously. The management reported to BBC that what happened wasn’t intentional and so they won’t be retaliating.

Normally, in circumstances like this, the management usually takes the cost of the repair upon themselves since the act was done by a minor and of course, it was done unconsciously.

According to the management, police and other authorities would have been involved if it was an intentional act. They also said that they have had similar cases where they involved the police because the smashing was done intentionally but in this case, they won’t be carrying out any legal action.

Adding to what they told the mainstream media, the jar is usually left at the entrance of the Haifa museum because it acts like a “charm” of attraction to visitors.

They finally informed the BBC that they have already asked one of their staff who is incharge of mending broken artifacts to bring it back to its normal shape. And after it is returned to its normal shape, it will be placed again in its normal position without protective glasses.

The museum is situated at the bottom of the University of Haifa, Israel.

However, many believe that the child did it intentionally. Some think it’s an act of antisemitism, while many also believe the opposite.

In this case, if you were to be the manager of the Haifa museum, what would you do?
